Your Turn-Key Solution for Utility-Scale Solar
Vegetation Management
Georgia Solar Grazing, LLC offers full-service vegetation management specifically tailored for large solar sites through the use of sustainable sheep grazing. Our environmentally friendly processes greatly minimize the necessity for mowing; however, we also maintain a fleet of commercial mowers and spray equipment available as a backup to grazing if required.
Our flexible combination of processes not only promotes healthier soil conditions but also helps reduce fire risks and repair costs from heavy equipment, enhances local biodiversity, all while maintaining optimal solar panel efficiency. You can trust us to deliver reliable, cost-effective maintenance services that support the advancement of renewable energy and demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.
Service Area
To maintain our shared vegetation control standard, we focus on the following key principles:
Ecological Sustainability
Responsible Land Stewardship
Maximized Energy Production
Erosion and Fire Mitigation
Improved Soil Health
Reduced Operations & Maintenance Costs
Avoid Heavy Mowing Equipment Damage Repairs
Aligned Goals
Why Agrivoltaics?
It allows us to help your site become a “Success Story for Future Solar Panel Installations”.
For solar companies, integrating sheep grazing under solar panels reduces vegetation management costs by replacing mechanical mowing or herbicides with natural grazing. This practice improves panel efficiency by preventing overgrowth without damaging equipment.
Additionally, it enhances the social acceptance of solar projects by utilizing dual purpose land use. Overall, sheep grazing and agrivoltaics create a mutually beneficial partnership that advances renewable energy goals while supporting agricultural and community wellbeing.
Our Story
When a 500-acre solar farm was being built at our family farm, we initially had several concerns. It turned out that our concerns about erosion/runoff control, fire risk and the aesthetics of vegetation beneath the panels were all common concerns held by solar site operators.
As third generation ranchers with degrees in Environmental Science and Biology, we developed methods that addressed these concerns and kept our family land agriculturally productive. By implementing a flexible system that utilizes agrivoltaics with sheep grazing, we have been able to do just that.
Strategic rotational grazing allows us to significantly reduce or even eliminate the need for mowing solar sites. The wide variety of benefits that solar grazing provides allows us to offer a superior service at a more economical price for solar operators and O&M teams. We look forward to the chance of partnering with you in the future!
Sincerely,
